Disk Defrag & ScanDisk hanging
I've just recently had Win98SE reinstalled. Each time I've tried to defrag C
drive, Disk Defragmenter gets hung up on "Checking disk for errors 0%". Likewise, when I try ScanDisk, the application stalls at "Checking file allocation tables" & "Checking folders". Then a message comes up that another program is writing to disk. However, I have closed all other Windows, deleted the Applog folder, run Disk Cleanup, and disabled my anti-virus software & screensaver. Any suggestions? |

Thanks for the suggestions. After I posted, I did Alt+Ctrl+Del and then
proceded to "end task" several programs, which seemed to do the trick, as I was then able to "ScanDisk" with no problem. And the defragging is going on as I write, also with no interruption or restart. --Scotch-writer "glee" wrote: Have you tried Scandisk and Defrag in Safe Mode? http://home.satx.rr.com/badour/html/scandisk.html and http://home.satx.rr.com/badour/html/defrag.html Have you tried after doing a clean boot?
