Keyboard Failure & Start Up In Safe Mode
Yep, I've also got an old keyboard with a DIN/AT plug that I keep for the
odd occasion that I get asked to look at an old box. I also have a mouse down in the garage that has a dsub9 plug but doubt it would still work if it was called in to play. I really must clear out some of my old junk! Today at least some of that junk came into good use. Bec arrived with her elderly DeskJet 720 and lifted the lid to show me the drive band used to move the head had totally disintegrated with something like 15cm converted into a coarse powder. As it happened I had another 720 down in the garage where the DC power socket missing (sheared off from the circuit board). With a bit of cussing and fussing I managed to remove the good circuit board from Bec's 720 and put it in to the one from the garage and lo and behold we now have one working printer. Now all I have to do is throw out the broken bits! -- Mike Noel Paton wrote: I have here an old AT keyboard for emergencies - the big DIN plug type - but I can't remember the last time I saw a 9-pin COM plug on a keyboard. |
