On my W 98 puter with ie 6, pages are locking up and freezing, taking
sometimes mins. to finish loading.
I'm also getting fault codes:

IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in
module MSHTML.DLL at 0187:637100af.

Is the cause of the action because the 'browser' is "old" ha ?

is there a fix for this? Have a new dell with Win 7. Not bad, but still
use the
oldie but goodie....

TIA !

No it is because of abounding junk and sloppiness. When was the last
time you encountered a valid website? 90% of the bloat that is "modern"
browsers is correction code for every conceivable error on substandard
sites.

That said IE 6 is not my first choice on W98. I use Firefox 1.5.0.12 and
Opera 9.28 and sometimes IE 5.5.

Why do you use firefox 1.5?

You got a problem with 2.0.0.20?

And if you're going to use IE once in a while, I don't see what the
difference is between 6 and 5.5 except 5.5 will render your web-pages
even worse than 6.

Install Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1
or Reinstall it

Why on earth are you using IE6?

IE6 (even when it works) has been doing a horrible job of rendering
web-content for at least the last 5 years.

Why haven't you installed firefox 2.0.0.20 and set it to be your
system's default browser?

Sometimes you just have to shake your head when you see people with an
anvil on their head always complaining about getting headaches...

I don't honestly remember the details. I believe that when I tried it
out the icon borders were bigger at the expense of the content area. And
it had become uglier. It doesn't take much to stop me from updating.
There will always be things to unlearn and relearn and there rarely are
any improvements of any value to me. If and when something new becomes
possible and that something new is something I want, I update like a
shot. Can't remember the last time that happened.

I have Firefox 8, Firefox 3.6, IE 7, Opera, Google Chrome, and Safari in
the current Version on my eXPerimental computer, for checking stuff and
trying stuff out, but I don't use them for anything.

I don't see what the
difference is between 6 and 5.5 except 5.5 will render your web-pages
even worse than 6.

I forget details, but wasn't IE6 the worst one of all, the one that
still had all the errors but took away the workarounds to cater for
them? There was something else, but I forget what.
