Is Windows ME really that bad?
You know, I hear all the time how Windows ME really "sucks" and that
it was a bad operating system. Now, from what I understand WinME is just an update of the 9x series of O/S's, not being that much different from 98. I used WinME for about a year before switching to Win2000. But I never really had any issues with it. So I am wondering, was ME really all that bad? Or is it the typical moron who screws up their system and just blams it on the OS? |

No but ignorance has bred its critics as it does in other areas. Or is it the typical moron who screws up their system and just blames it on the OS? LOL Since I wouldn't dream of making such a comment ;-) can I quote you? -- Mike Maltby MS-MVP SepticTank wrote: You know, I hear all the time how Windows ME really "sucks" and that it was a bad operating system. I'm still using ME, and it works great.
The only problem I've had is my current sound card problem. Everything else is great. "SepticTank" wrote in message ... In the beginning, WinMe tended to crash..a lot. Still will if you don't install the updates. With all updates installed I find it to be more robust and reliable than the Win2000 machine I use at work. It will certainly stand more continuous uptime than that machine. DN |

More user-friendly and less tech-friendly than 98 and doesn't require as much resources to run as XP. Rick |

No OS is, as long as you were always updating it and
keeping it virus and spyware free any OS is Good. If you didn't update XP it would fall to crap cause of all the virus attacks. ME would sometimes fall to crap cause people are to ignorant to press windows update. If it was up to me I would keep my old windows 95 if you could keep updating it and stay on top of the technological world. -Stuart -----Original Message----- You know, I hear all the time how Windows ME really "sucks" and that it was a bad operating system. Don't have to be a moron to screw it up, just careless. As with everything, it needs care-taking. To answer your question, it isn't 'not all that bad' only, it is at least as good as any other OS out there, if not better. The difference is determined by personal preference. Harry. |

Is Windows ME really that bad?
My WinME box "really sucked" when I upgraded it from Win95.
It continued to suck until I got smart, read the expert advice from the gurus in this news group (you know who you are!) and removed an incompatible anti-virus (which worked fine with Win95). My WinME box has been working fine ever since. So, in answer to question, WinME sucks if you don't use WinME compatible software. I expect the same would be true of any OS. Good luck.
