Wheel or Optical Mouse
Hi:
I have a Toshiba laptop model 2100CDS and have tried to install and use any mouse with wheel or optical i.e. Microsoft Intelli Point etc, but apparently the "Touch Pad" software causes conflicts.I have installed the correct drivers for USB optical mouse or just plain PS/2 wheel mouse, but all are erratic when I try to use. The only mouse that will other than laptop Touch Pad is a plain PS/2 mouse W/O wheel. I do not want to uninstall the Touch Pad driver, as I no longer can find my Recovery CD. Any suggestions and/or recommendations will be appreciated. Thanks |

Wheel or Optical Mouse
I recently encountered a very similar problem on a Toshiba Portégé M300
laptop running XP Pro. That is conflict between the Synaptic touchpad driver and Intellipoint, the reason why I wanted to install Intellipoint was to allow me to configure the an optical wheelmouse's wheel click as a double click. Unfortunately the solution I found (installing X Button Control from http://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/X...tonControl.htm) is not available to you as X Button won't install on Win 9x systems. :-( However unless you want to configure the mouse buttons you shouldn't need to install Intellipoint. You might want to try a Logitech mouse as Logitech have their own version of Intellipoint. Just in case anyone is interested there is also a 64bit version of X Button which works fine with XP Pro x64. This is fortunate as Microsoft haven't seen fit to release a 64 bit version of Intellipoint despite XP x64 being released over a year ago. -- Mike Maltby ColTom2 wrote: Hi: I have a Toshiba laptop model 2100CDS and have tried to install and use any mouse with wheel or optical i.e. Microsoft Intelli Point etc, but apparently the "Touch Pad" software causes conflicts.I have installed the correct drivers for USB optical mouse or just plain PS/2 wheel mouse, but all are erratic when I try to use. However, I agree with your assessment of MS Intellipoint. Heirloom, old and hanging with x32 "Mike M" wrote in message ...
