Default Computer freezes on startup

Hi Everyone,
After reinstalling Windows, the computer freezes up at the
first dialog box ( the windows setup screen where it asks
you for your name and company). I can get into Safe Mode,
and all the programs from the installation disk are there.
I've formatted the hard drive 3 times hoping it was some
kind of fluke, but the problem persists.I've formatted my
disk and reinstalled the OS in the past and have never
encountered this problem. Can anyone out there help me out,
I'm about at my wits end here. Thanks in advance.
(Surely I can't be the ony one this has happened
to,lol!)

You would have to suspect bad hardware if the setup routine doesn't
complete after 3 attempts, if that's what you are saying. Do some
testing, start with the manufactures diagnostics on your HDD, then run
mentest86 in extended mode on the RAM

I'm afraid I can't help you,but I thought you could help
me with re-installing Win98.I formatted the hard drive
and when I start up,I receive a c:\ and nothing works
when I type something in.I can no longer use safe mode
either it just makes the c:\ appear. Thanks
