screen saver quick start icon-start up/shut down issues

I just noticed this icon down in my toolbar . ( maybe it has been there for
a while but, in any event, I just realized it was there )
I am the one that has been having troubles with start up and shut down.
( go to shut down via the start up menu only for it to go to a white screen
then back to desktop then eventually it seems to shut down ok only for me to
have to restore my active desktop when cutting the puter back on )
Could this screen saver quick start be causing some start up shut down
conflicts. I do not have a screensaver or background running on this puter,
have not in over a year or so.

Anything is possible and in your case, probable. Take a look in MSCONFIG
for what is starting this at boot and uncheck it. Then look for what proggy
had started it in the first place and determine whether you want to keep it
or not.
