Default Windows98 Sartup problem

When I try to do a normal boot I get the following error message: 'While
initializing device NDIS:
Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer.'
It will start in the safe mode only. Anyone know of a fix?

OOps... sorry bout posting a blank reply... my mistake.
Anyway, I've been having the same problem. I'm going to try the fix that
Jim McNulty posted. In the meantime I've discovered that you can log onto
windows non-safe mode, without network support by going through step by step
confirmation at startup and entering No (ESC) for the ndis.vxd prompt. Hope
that helps a little.
