Default multi-link anyone?

Just wondering if anyone has tried or is successfully using the WinME/98/SE
capability of Multilink for dialup. I have been able to do it, but the
performance isn't consistent. Sometimes when I have to "Suspend" my 2nd
modem connection and redial later, the connection doesn't always succeed the
1st time. After a few retries it will, however.

I have never tried this capability. I can't really find information on
setting it up. Is this a native Windows application, or a third part
application using the Windos TCP/IP stack?

MS provides quite a bit of info on Multilink. I can't find the specific
tech article for Winme/98, but a Google search for "multilink winme" turned
up a few helpful pages.

Multilink is even possible in XP:

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;307849

I have one internal modem and one external modem. I was able to get
multilink to work with either modem dialing first. Sometimes after the 2nd
modem dials out and tries to settle down, DUN seems to lock up. This would
force me to reboot (c-a-d). Not good. Multilink doesn't seem to be a
reliable solution. But it was fun to watch while it worked!

BTW.. multilink won't work if there are two internal Winmodems - because
windrivers are not designed to be used for more than one modem
simultaneously.

Ah. I see now; I do have the Multilink tab on the DUN connection. I guess I
am really in the deep end of this pool! My second modem, while external, is
connected to the EIA-232 port of my SBC Barricade 7004BR router. I don't
have a list of devices in the table of of ML tab, and I don't think that my
ISP is set up for ML on their end, anyway (on the backup dial connection;
primary connection is DSL).
