Win98 and Xp, dual boot
I know that if I desire to set up a dual boot with Win98 and WinXP that I
need to install Win98 first. Does this still apply if I use a third party partition manager (Partition Magic)? I'm wondering if the method they use to hide partitions from one another would overcome the problems created when WinXP is installed first. Thanks. -- Ed H Dell Dimension 4550, WinXP Home SP1 60 Gig. Win98 and Xp, dual boot
The reason that W98 needs to be installed first is that it does not include
a boot manager, so the installation just stomps all over the XP boot manager. If you are installing a third party boot manager then this problem simply does not exist, as it knows that the whole purpose of the installation is to give you access to different operating systems -- Jeff Richards MS MVP (DTS) "Ed H" wrote in message ...
