Trying to reinstall Win 98
Using the system restoration disk (CD). I can make it almost all the way
through the process without trouble; then, near the end, there is a point where I'm told to remove the CD, and then a few moments later to put it back in. At that point, however, I get a message saying it can't find or recognize the CD. When I F10 out of there, I get a message saying "Win.com not found" and so the installation failed. There's a Microsoft support page on a similar issue, which gives directions on extracting Win.cnf and changing its name to Win.com, but frankly I'm not computer literate enough to follow these complex directions. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance, Peter |
