Default plugin did not initialize

I get this message when attempting to download certain
items...consequently the download will not complete. For
instance a free ad-aware scanning/removing application.
Does anyone know what this is or how to rectify the
interruption??

Looks like you may already be infected as thats not a standard IE error
message......... (atleast, not tmk)
