Can M E be replaced with XP operating system???
What would be the system requirements?

Minimum of 512 MB RAM and 800 Mhz processor with at least a 64MB video card.

More, of course, would be better. What are the specs of the machine in
question?

Alias

I don't know, I have installed it many times with 318 MB of ram and a
733 Mhz pentium and it worked just fine,
change a few settings and works even faster.

I wouldn't necessarily buy XP for it specifically though.

kbid=303486 "Page cannot be found"
kbid=811165 - item 1 "remove surfairy" do not have it
item 2 "clear 'enable third party browser ext' no help
also "clear 'encapsulated postscript' did not have
Still looking for 'run Int Exp repair' my control panel has 31 entries
including 'add & remove' but nothing about repair.

Int. Exp repair: If I remove MS Int Exp 6 sp1, then how can I
repair it? Do not have :Repair Int Exp listed in Add & Remove. Please
come back thanks

I didn't say that you should remove IE6 SP1, instead I suggested you
REPAIR it and gave the instructions on how to do this. Perhaps you were
confused by this requiring you to access the IE6 repair screen via
Add/Remove Programs. Follow the steps in my previous post and you should
be able to repair IE6 SP1. Regrettably I can't guarantee that will fix
your problem but is certainly worth trying as it costs nothing.

Best of luck,

I'm sorry to appear to be repeating myself but you won't find "Repair IE"
in Add/Remove Programs. Instead, please carefully read what I have
already typed twice before.

So for the very last time, to run the Internet Explorer repair tool:

With Internet Explorer closed, go to Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs,
select "Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1" click Add/Remove and then
select "Repair Internet Explorer" and click OK.

NOTE this doe NOT remove/uninstall IE. When you select "Microsoft
Internet Explorer 6 SP1" and click Add/Remove a box pops up with THREE
options, one of which is to REPAIR IE and another is to REMOVE IE. The
one you want is REPAIR, that is REPAIR not REMOVE.

As I have previously said, no guarantee that it will work but until you
try it you will never know whether it will fix the problem or not.

Mike - thanks for being so patient.
I did as you said & clicked on the 'repair option'
Result = "Int Exp 6 could not be repaired" "Run set up again to reinstall
all components"
I ran IE6 setup.exe & chose 'reinstall all components'
Result = "D/L location information damaged" "Clear Int Exp browser cache &
retry setup" How do I find & clear the browser cache? Thanks again Cal

Mike is asleep, and while I am using XP, I do remember the ME IE setup,
if not the correct wording.

Open Internet Explorer, click on Tools, Options and the Delete (Temp?)
files. A small box comes up asking if you want to delete some
incomprehensible thing, but do click YES......and let it do it's stuff.
You should be deleting those every day, btw.

Otherwise you can find the IE browser cache in Windows Explorer, or wait
for Mike to get back to you in about 3 hours. I did check XP's IE and
it works same, but might be slightly different wording.

HTH.....Heather
