Default Files are in reverse alphabetical order

Hi,

In the folder My Documents, and in all the subfolders (My Pictures, My Music
etc.) the files are now in reverse alphabetical order i.e. Z's at the
beginning, A's at the end.

Is there some way to correct this?
Thank you.

Andy I.

View menuArrange icons byName (Toggles alphabetical and reverse alphabetical,
by name.)

Or, choose Detailed view and then click on the appropriate column header.

If Terhune's fix doesn't work or last, then...

Open a folder, &...

(1) Set the folder as you will.
(2) Even resize it, USING the mouse and dragging the borders.
(3) Hold Ctrl as you click to close the folder/window.
(4) Perhaps, reboot.

If you wish, also "START, Settings, Folder Options, View tab, Reset all
folders" before step (1). Then, "Like current folder" before step (3).
Of course, all individualized folder settings, except perhaps "thumbnail
view", will be lost. If still unhappy, try turning off "Remember each
folders' view settings" before step (1), and back on later.

Here are some articles that might have additional info.

Thanks Gary. I've already tried ARRANGE ICONS | BY NAME without success.
However, your second suggestion did the trick!
I chose DETAILED VIEW | clicked on NAME column heading and correct
alphabetical order was restored, but only in DETAILED VIEW. When I returned
to LARGE ICONS, the order was still reversed, but on choosing ARRANGE ICONS
| BY NAME again, this time it worked.
I used the same procedure for the other sub-folders in My Documents. Now I'm
happy..........

Thanks again.
Andy I.

Hi PCR,

As you probably can see, one of Gary's suggestions worked, but I'll keep
yours for future problems! or if, as you mentioned, "it doesn't last".
Thanks a lot for that! :-( ........ Just what I need......
What I really mean is many thanks for your interest.

Andy I.

You are welcome. Yes, I saw. You had to do the second thing he said
first, & the first thing second. (An earthquake must have stood him on
his head.) I'll consider adding it to my Master Post. Thanks for the
feedback.
