Default Media Player error- missing export file

Needing assistance in rectifying start up error when
trying to access Media Player. I recently tried updating
my version to Media Player 9 from the microsoft site.
After downloading it begins to instal then I receive the
error message.......Startup Error then....MSACM32.DLL file
is linked to export NTDLL.DLL:NtClose
It suggests I retry the download..however the same message
appears
How do I find and install missing files?
Thanks

You have no missing file, but rather mscm32.dll is looking for a different
version of ntdll.dll than you have on your PC. The reason being that I
suspect you downloaded and installed the version of WMP9 intended for XP
rather than the version for Win98SE, Win Me and Win 2000 and now have version
soup. As the message says, you need to repeat the download and install.
