msdos and virtual memory
Graham
try deleting the swapfile Boot to DOS using the Startup floppy, and type the following commands DEL C:\WIN386.SWP DEL C:\WINDOWS\WIN386.SWP (one may report 'File not found' - don't worry!) EDIT C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI In the window that comes up, look for the following lines, and put a semi-colon ( in front of them... PagingDrive=C: MaxPagingFileSize=0 Now hit Alt, F, S in that order to save, then Alt F X to exit, and reboot to Windows, removing the floppy. See if that fixes it - if not, post back with details of how you disabled the Virtual Memory in the first place! Now the $64,000 question - why did you do this??? -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2004, Win9x) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's or http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/f.../Mar27pmvp.asp "graham" wrote in message ... tryed to reinstall me. i first disabled virtual memory and now won't it boot no how no way.(safe mode or otherwise) how can i turn it back on or fix the problem? already tryed to reinstall. |
