confguring \etc\hosts with different machines having same name but different IP address
Hai,
I am trying to setup a PC to collect data from two different networks (class addressing of both are the same - 192.168.1.xxx). There's a problem I am facing now: Network1 is analogues to Network2 in terms of PC names. The networks have PCs (UNIX based) with same names but different IP addresses. For example: In network1, I have PC1 with IP address 192.168.1.1 In network2, I have PC1 with IPaddress 192.168.1.101 Now I need to connect this third PC (windows based) into the network to read data from the two PCs above. How do I configure the \etc\hosts file with these PC names and addresses. There would be a clear conflict or rather the machine mentioned first in the hosts file will only be accessed. Is there some work around to this? Thanks in advance. |
