Default Win 98 Start - up problems

We have 4 computers running Win 98 which hang almost
immediately when booting. Any suggestions for reason -
cure?

Are all 4 looking for a network drive (on another machine) which may not be
available when the 4 machines are being booted?

To add too Doug. If they are all networked, has one been compromised by a Network

What is the last thing you see on the screen when it has hung? Can you
boot to Safe Mode (hold F5 or CTRL as you boot)?

Obviously it's something all four computers have in common. What did you
install (software and hardware) to all four of them prior to having this
problem?
