I have ethernet based cable internet. is it possible to use a splitter to
connect 2 computers to internet?

Yes, d-link routers were on sale last week here for $19 dollars NICs are
always around $10
Install the router bwetween original pc and cable modem, clone mac address
of pc into router, add as many more pcs as you want. setup booklet for
d-link was only one page

Not a splitter....you need a router. The cable modem connects to the router, and
then the router connects to all the computers you want to have share the internet
connection. See here for details -

Yeah, but I was thinking the OP meant a 'splitter', as in a simple line splitter as
is used to connect two TV's to cable.
