Ethernet - LAN card installation problems
My ME computer does not recognize the LAN card installed to provide with
ethernet access to connect to internet via dsl (AT&T-YAHOO)). I'm using slot #3 and am certain that is properly inserted. When I try to make the system look for it, it does not find it, so I force it from a list of manufs and models (Linksys - LNE100TX(v5)). Although it goes through requesting drivers and files, which I provide both from the CD ROM and later from a download directly fm LKSS, and it concludes with a "completed installation", when I restart there are no signs of it. I got so frustrated that bought a USB LAN to Ethernet device/adapter but this also does not work. Although it recognizes it, somehow it can not find the drivers and/or files supplied in the CD ROM. Anyway, to get to the point/q, what can one do to make one's system recognize an installed LAN card in the system? Thx much. Ro |

Ethernet - LAN card installation problems
Mike, thanks for the comment. Dvc Mgr does not see the card. Naturally, I
have physically installed n reinstalled the card at least 4 times. And, if I connect an ethernet cable to the RJ45 outlet, both lights (green n yellow) on the back of the presummed installed card lit up. So, moving to the BIOS. What would you propose I do? THX! R "Mike M" wrote: Does the card show in Win Me's device manager? If not then the operating system cannot see or use it and the problem is either with the installation or possibly the bios on the motherboard. An operating system can only use hardware that it can see and this is a function of the motherboard. -- Mike Maltby rojp08 wrote: My ME computer does not recognize the LAN card installed to provide with ethernet access to connect to internet via dsl (AT&T-YAHOO)). Ethernet - LAN card installation problems
R,
Not even a yellow "?" mark in Dev Man (Unknown Device)? What happens if you try another PCI slot? Do you know the make/model of the motherboard? Is there perhaps a more recent version of the bios you could install than your present version? The bioses on my two main systems both allow me to enable/disable the NIC(s) but in my cases these are built in and not added via a PCI slot. Sorry I don't really know what more to suggest. Perhaps the next thing I would try would be to see if the card is detected if inserted in to another PC (no need for driver install, just is it seen in Dev Man?). Best of luck, -- Mike Maltby rojp08 wrote: Mike, thanks for the comment. Dvc Mgr does not see the card. Naturally, I have physically installed n reinstalled the card at least 4 times. Ethernet - LAN card installation problems
Hi David,
You can check if your USB-to-LAN adapter is ASIX's solutions or not? If yes, you can try to download the latest ASIX's USB-to-LAN stanard drivers from ASIX's web site. All ASIX's USB-to-LAN drivers were qualified on ASIX's USB-to-LAN demo boards with ASIX's default VID/PID. If these drivers couldn't work with your USB-to-LAN adapter, you might need to contact the manufacturer's support guys to get the correct driver. Hope this information is helpful for you to solve your issue soon. http://www.asix.com.tw/products.php?...tList&PLine=71 ASIX Electronics Corporation Technical Support Division Support: Sales: http://www.asix.com.tw/ |
