Default Ports ???

Could Anyone Please Help.

I just tried installing a printer (Lexmark1020) on a
Win98SE PC. Problem is that the PC is also connected to a
Novell Netware 3.12 network. The Netware server has 3
printers attached to it, on Lpt1 Lpt2 and Lpt3. As soon as
I log onto the network from a local PC, the network
printers is routed towards Lpt1 Lpt2 and Lpt3 on the local
PC. Problem then starts as the newly installed printer on
the local PC is installed on Lpt1 as well. If I do not log
onto the network, the printer functions fine no problems
at all. As soon as I’m logged onto the network and I try
to print from windows to the local (new) printer I get a
network error. If I print from Dos based programs (as
found on the Netware server) all prints fine onto the
network printers.

I only need to print from Windows based applications onto
the new local printer, and I do not need to share it
across the network. All my Dos based programs only needs
to print o the network printers, and they do not need
access to the new local printer.

Is there a way to rename my local printer port to Lpt 4?
Will it work? Else is there a way to set Windows based
programs not to "see" network printers, and Dos programs
not to "see" local printers?

Any help or suggestions would be truly appreciated!

Thank you all!
