Since nobody has answered, i just want to say that you're not alone. (I'm running Win98SE on an Asustek A7V333 motherboard (VIA KT333).) I had something like the behaviour you describe under DirectX 9.0a, and under 9.0b it's been much worse. Something is causing the FDD to chuck away at nothing but air for over a minute before giving up. Having no real DirectX problems, /i know of/, i have only been using the DX Diagnostic program a few times, so i never bothered to look into why the above behavior might occur. But if you find out, or if someone else knows, please post it here. -- Please followup in newsgroup. E-mail address is invalid due to spam-control. |

Get in to MB bios. In the screen where the Boot sequence
is,should be an option to disable Floppy seek. Disable it and see if the floppy search stops. -----Original Message----- Simple question for anybody. Why does my floppy drive get accessed 3~4 times every time I go to Dx Diag.,..and how can I stop it from doing this!?! . |

Why does my floppy drive get accessed 3~4 times every time I go to Dx Diag.,..and how can I stop it from doing this!?! In my case that was/is disabled. I toggled the setting but that doesn't change DXDiag's behaviour. Before it did finally finish, now it stalls with the progress-bar at about 80-90% finished. "CtrlAltDel" then reveals that WinMgmt is running but have stopped responding. So maybe it have something to do with whether Windows Based Enterprise Management (WBEM) is installed or not? -- Please followup in newsgroup. E-mail address is invalid due to spam-control. |
