Here is one of the things you wanted::::

";
; Scanreg.ini for making system backups.
;

;Registry backup is skipped altogether if this is set to 0
Backup=1

;Registry automatic optimization is skipped if this is set to 0
Optimize=1

ScanregVersion=0.0001
MaxBackupCopies=5

;Backup directory where the cabs are stored is
; windir\sysbckup by default. Value below overrides it.
; It must be a full path. ex. c:\tmp\backup
;
BackupDirectory=

; Additional system files to backup into cab as follows:
; Filenames are separated by ','
; dir code can be:
; 10 : windir (ex. c:\windows)
; 11 : system dir (ex. c:\windows\system)
; 30 : boot dir (ex. c:\)
; 31 : boot host dir (ex. c:\)
;
;Files=[dir code,]file1,file2,file3
;Files=[dir code,]file1,file2,file3

This file is exactly as I found it 10 minutes after posting prior, it
seems to be fine... ?

Now for something that I really am not 100% sure about.
Remember I said all things regarding my connection were fine again? and
that I can now be on the net no matter what? well, I'm not sure but I
think i got booted off again today,, but wont go into panic mode,
because we have had some wild weathere here in last 36 hours, but it has
acted just like before.

I presume you added that quote (") manually into this post, & we won't

Yep. That looks fine to me, looks just like mine. Did you get a new
Registry on your latest boot & did the 1-29-2007 backup drop off? If so,
you are fine. Otherwise, check the rest of it in my post.

Now for something that I really am not 100% sure about.

Yea, don't panic. Occasional, widely spread connectivity problems can be
ignored. Maybe the ISP had a hiccup due to prohibition is over.

No -- I won't laugh -- very good of you to help that schoolgirl. Spread
your new-found knowlege instead of viruses. I'm still here & will keep
on so long as there's a 52% chance I can help.

NetStat is a DOS command that appears to emulate Kerio's Opened
Connections screen -- but Kerio is a ton better! Kerio shows names &
more. Keep reading, & -- as soon as ready -- start a new thread about
Kerio. It shouldn't be too hard to get it started. Then, the fine tuning
begins. I'm not perfectly knowledgeable on Internet protocols & Kerio
rules, myself -- but am willing to give it yet another big, big try!
It's worth it!

C:\NetStat /?

Displays protocol statistics and current TCP/IP network connections.
NETSTAT [-a] [-e] [-n] [-s] [-p proto] [-r] [interval]
-a Displays all connections and listening ports.
-e Displays Ethernet statistics. This may be combined with
the -s
option.
-n Displays addresses and port numbers in numerical form.
-p proto Shows connections for the protocol specified by proto; proto
may be TCP or UDP. If used with the -s option to display
per-protocol statistics, proto may be TCP, UDP, or IP.
-r Displays the routing table.
-s Displays per-protocol statistics. By default, statistics
are
shown for TCP, UDP and IP; the -p option may be used to
specify
a subset of the default.
interval Redisplays selected statistics, pausing interval seconds
between each display. Press CTRL+C to stop redisplaying
statistics. If omitted, netstat will print the current
configuration information once.

This file is exactly as I found it 10 minutes after posting prior,

it
seems to be fine... ?
Yep. That looks fine to me, looks just like mine. Did you get a new
Registry on your latest boot & did the 1-29-2007 backup drop off? If

so,
you are fine. Otherwise, check the rest of it in my post.

------------

Good,, then things are on track and fine.

All right. Looks good. So, you won't have to restore a two year old
Registry next time, although you seem capable of handling it. Very good.

---------------
Now for something that I really am not 100% sure about.
Remember I said all things regarding my connection were fine again?
and that I can now be on the net no matter what? well, I'm not

sure
but I think i got booted off again today,, but wont go into panic
mode, because we have had some wild weathere here in last 36 hours,
but it has acted just like before.
Yea, don't panic. Occasional, widely spread connectivity problems

can be
ignored. Maybe the ISP had a hiccup due to prohibition is over.

----------

Yes,, was definately the weather,, lightning was also a part, so I

shut
down modem as well.

All right. Glad to hear it.

----------------
No -- I won't laugh -- very good of you to help that schoolgirl.

Spread
your new-found knowlege instead of viruses. I'm still here & will

keep
on so long as there's a 52% chance I can help.

------------

Help a school girl,,,,, nay sire; me first. (let her fix her own
computer!!)
52%.. is much better odds than I get buying xlotto tickets, so I'll
stick with you. (I did win $67 this week tho', or should I say, last
thursday.)

Very lucky, if a tad unchivilrous.

Guess I'll say 'hi' here at this end of the post PCR. I dont think
anyone else is interested, so maybe I can ask you a couple more

questions.
But, first, an update.... (plz put on earmuffs and cover your eyes

while
you read, cos' you not going to like it.)

Uh-oh.

No, I havent yet put back on
Kerio. (eeeeeek) And before I do, (because I have been doing lots of
other things and reading etc) can you tell me anything about
"NetStat" via Dos? Especially "Netstat -a"? (as you can guess, I

am
trying to learn more, and I can across 'netstat'. Can you help me

to
'know' or 'tell' if I have someone 'listening' on my Ports? (and I am
Still trying to understand 'ports', have downloaded so much reading
material about them, I even got one that shows so many Ports that I
think I'm in Sydney Harbour working for the Dockers Union!! (ha ha.)
Is this sort of knowledge helpful in regard to us talking about a
Firewall? No kidding PCR, I have never had a firewall, and have had
super-minimal problems with virus's... have I just been lucky?

Btw, has anyone told you lately that you are 'great', (oil oil), but
seriously, you just seem to be a guy like me who doesnt want to move
away from 98, and especially 98SE. I know others play games and have
dual processors, (and, no, I dont understand half of that stuff) so it
is easy for me to relate to your posts. (well, sorta anyway.)

You've made my head swell, but with enough oil on top still to fit in my
hat.

As you may/probably already know, I have had some other issues, and
posted them in other groups, (have learned my lesson about 'netiquite'
and posting in appropiate groups etc.) I think they have been dealt
with but I am also still trying to get used to using Mozilla T/bird as

a
reader.... and in fact, there is an issue in itself if you are
interested in helping.... Somehow, after installing this newsreader,

I
cant even d/load normal n/g's via my own isp;,, I 'think' it has
something to do with 'outlook xpress' and the fact that I had/have
xproxy installed and T/bird wont give me isp's groups because of it,,
but I'll leave that there.

Xproxy is a Web/http proxy if its what I think it is.

T-Bird needs the proper ports setup in it for the particular service.
Edit Account preferences pick the account set the proper addresses
and ports and other from the left hand pane headings.
Setup the SMTP server AND port for the specific account, or use one of
your mail service SMTP servers [the one you use to hide yourself].
Both require you enter the name and password for the specific server.

IMPORTANT:
Did you at least install Total Uninstall and ZA yet?
You can worry about setting up Kerio later...

I'm still using IE6/OE6. You'll need to go through Mozilla FAQs for help
on that, or ask in a new thread for a Mozilla user to see. I don't know,
but it may be tougher to access MS NG's through Mozilla.

Btw,, are we totally 12 hours out of whack?

You are +0930; I am -0400 in regard to Greenwich Mean Time, looks like.

Hope I'm not down to 51% yet, and you get this post.

Nope.
