Mart - AVG Updates - STILL available!
That's good to hear, I haven't fired mine up for a while, (I can't get in
the room for all Kelly's stuff in store) so I know it needs an update of AVG. g -- Joan Archer http://www.freewebs.com/crossstitcher http://lachsoft.com/photogallery "Mart" wrote in message ... Mart - AVG Updates - STILL available!
Hi Joan,
Regarding AVG, looks like I may have spoken a tad too soon. Although AVG 7.5 did "update" itself this morning, the defs. were dated 30th April. And, I just found this :- http://free.avg.com/faq.num-1855#faq_1855 However, at least it doesn't crash or throw the toys out of the pram when attempting a defs. update - Yet! I'll just take my chances and hope that spammers don't bother targeting WinMe anymore. Always got SR - and I don't bother with mucky sites - so this old laptop can hopefully survive a little longer with the 30th April defs. Watch this space. Mart "Joan Archer" wrote in message ... Mart - AVG Updates - STILL available!
Double here too. Hi to everyone cuz I have been really remiss with
emails. So hi to all of the gang!! Thanks Joan for the card......(hiding head in shame). Ron's b'day tomorrow so heading out to our favourite chinese restaurant (Mandarin Buffet) for dinner. The old crab wants just that.......lots of crablegs, lol. So I will stuff myself with shrimp and mussels and he can eat the crab. All are relatively well. The "relative word" meaning that none of us is getting any younger, ergo our state of wellness is older as well. (G) Did that make any sense??? I reminded myself of Shane when I wrote that. ACK!! Kissies Shane. Still coolish here today......about 14C. Not sure if we will holiday this year, but looking at what is now called "staycations".......eerrgghh, hate cute words. Might head on down to Quebec and then again might just do day trips. Cheers to all of you and I will get my mojo working again, I think. Ron and Heather "Joan Archer" wrote in message ... ... you can definitely keep the mussels I've never liked them since being young Mum and Dad had them a lot, yuck. Ah - you've obviously never had them properly cooked..... most English cooks tend to boil them to rubber. steam (preferably in white wine/chalottes/garlic) lightly for no more than 5 minutes, serve with warm baguette, and lots of white wine g Have you got that router set up yet or are you still playing chicken with it vbg Cluck cluck! vbeg I've got to try and lay down the law and get my line gain upgraded, my service is for up to 8 MB but my line is only capable of 2 MB and I'm getting no where near that, I don't understand the results of these speed tests but I've been told I should get faster speed for my ADSL than I get. Don't bet on it! try resetting the router - then do an online speed test, and at the same time, check the various readings on dB, etc.... chances are that you are too far from the exchange to get more than 2Mb/s - which equates to ~250KB/s. You have to be within about 1 Km of the exchange to get much more than that. Anyway going to go and catch up, I'm a moderator and administrator on a site now so got to catch up g "a stitch in time"?, eh?? have fun! -- Noel Paton CrashFixPC Nil Carborundum Illegitemi www.crashfixpc.co.uk |

The Furball knows how to properly do mussels, lol. I will remember that if I ever get back to the Chester area!! As for the router, no.....I haven't set it up. But when I finally take the plunge, I will contact you for instructions. Btw......at Xmas, I bought a very handy thing called "Clickfree" which backs up all the good stuff automatically on this computer and would do at least 4 more. Elayne just got one that is newly out and it does both Macs and PCs. I realize you techie/geek types probably use an external HD, but this is so easy for us non-geeks. I highly recommend it!! Hi Joanie......Ron thanks you and yes, he pigged out on crab legs. I
had some as well and they were very good......but the shrimp are my favourite. Mussels are better done the way Noel says, but usually Brits cook the sh*t out of everything, so don't go by what your parents did.....ROFL!! Hey.....I am a moderator on a genealogy site (UK of course) and I am the unofficial website spelling proofer for a couple of beady businesses. I get free beads now and then for doing that. Haven't set the router up, but maybe some day. Is our *friend* from Montreal still around?? I was on Aumha the other day and it didn't look like it. I see there is a wild Welshman on there now tho. (snicker) Hugs.....Heather "Joan Archer" wrote in message ... Hello back to you, I hope you enjoyed your meal, just seen when you sent the reply and I'm only just replying back g Give Ron my love and wish him a very Happy Birthday from me and John. Double here too. Hi to everyone cuz I have been really remiss with emails. That's good to hear, I haven't fired mine up for a while, (I can't get in the room for all Kelly's stuff in store) so I know it needs an update of AVG. g -- Joan Archer http://www.freewebs.com/crossstitcher http://lachsoft.com/photogallery |

In the end, Robear had to pull us apart - but I stand by every word I said then (and would say the same again today). I've still to see a quicker way to kill a PC than installing Norton software (except the malware that Norton lets through) I've had one or two discussions with more 'au fait' people than me WRT AV's - and they still agree that the retail versions of Symantec software leave something to be desired (while the 'business versions' are possible up there with the best). I ain't changin' horses yet, Tonto! I have, though, decided that AVG has got rather top-heavy for what it does, and have begun evaluating Avast ( as that seems to be the current 'most-favoured' free AV).... so far so good - it seems to give Vista a little more elbow-room than AVG did on this box, with no more interference.... BUT! (you knew that was coming?) the user/control interface is abominable! - no clarity at all in the freebie version, and I still get confused (after 1 month) by which button needs clicking for what! I've still to see a quicker way to kill a PC than installing Norton LOL......I don't have a clue what you are talking about, but perhaps it is about a rather annoying Quebecker. And Norton sucks, as the kids say!! I am SO DAMN GLAD that you said you hate the interface. I thought I was going dotty (say it and you are a dead Welshman!! 8-)) because I just plain couldn't get the hang of it and I have used Avast for over a year. Every couple of months I try and figure it out and run it, but have no clue if I am doing it right, lol. OT.....did you know Tonto was Canadian and was raised on the 6 Nations Reserve about an hour from me?? His real name was Jay Silverheels. What a hunk he was!!
