I have the free version

mc always run the free version license as a demo for you cam all
move up to Pro avast

But I do not know if you can uninstall Pro and reinstall the free
So it look like you maybe the first to do,,, so tell us how it go's
and I would buy avast for they are good

For Norton make my wife cry sometime
and she see avast Home Edition Free Anitvirus out run Norton.. on win98
And on my XP have Avira AntiVir Personal - FREE Antivirus and her XP
is the one with Norton we same kind of CP
and Avira AntiVir Personal out work Norton too and why she cry because
she pay for Norton and miss a virus.....

Well it seems to me if all the 98 users want to have a company
continue supplying a working software program then buy it. If enough
people are paying for it then maybe they will keep it going...

I found version 4.7 (17MB) and 4.8 (41MB), what was difference
between
these 2 versions?

Beyond that, if you install the old 4.7, you may not receive the last
of the updates for AVAST as these are now created for the 4.8 version.
You would also receive notice of the outdated version and it would
attempt to update itself to 4.8 anyway.

Well I just installed the demo version of 4.8 pro and then I adjusted
the date and time on my computer and the avast demo temporary license
was disabled because I changed the date and time, go figure...
mc

Its keyed [the license] to actual dates and times and TIMED. I presume
you thought to extend the period by the old set-ahead/set-back fake...
or similar.

Use the home "free" version, the demo trial is just that, "a trial".

No the actual date was off by 1 day so I adjusted it back 1 day. This
was supposed to be a 60 day demo??
mc

Then you did exactly what I said and the License and application
protections caught your attempt. Doesn't matter its just one day, it is
a date which does not coincide with the License creation coded within it
and the application.

And that is something I have been TRYING to tell Win9X users since EOL.
IF they want applications for the OS then their attitudes must change a
bit; the OS is not the number 1 OS on the planet, it is considered as a
knitch OS; and does require programming to be compiled specifically for it.
Another factor: IF they find those willing to supply FREE support, then
they MUST provide *constructive* and helpful input back to those
developers. They can no longer rely upon the "other" several millions of
Win9X consumer users to do that, as those users are non-existent.

As for Alwil supplying support to Win9X, whether paid or otherwise, I
would doubt it as many other PAID suppliers DO supply Win9X support or
at least compatible AV applications, and likely have more paid users
already making that market potential extremely small for competitors.

Yep. That's the one I continue to use. It's main peccadillo is that it
is tough to use Explorer or the Toolbar until the update of virus
definitions is completed. But everything is fine after that! That
v.4.8.1368 is fairly recent -- so I question whether they really will
ever abandon us lowly Win98 users after all!

its times like this pcr, that the new info i have is vital and relevant,
but alas, there were/are twits here that attacked me for no reason, and
i feel no need at all to help or assist. (not you personally.)
oh well.

If you're willing to shell out a bit for the BEST, ESET NOD32
has a 98 version (you have to look at a few of their
international sites to find it). It uses the same sig files as
the latest XP/V/7 version, updated daily.
The 98 interface is what /all/ interfaces should be. The XP/V/7
is "modern" in the bad sense of the word - but it /could be/ a
LOT worse... And it IS the best AV program.

FWIW...... Windoze7 is nothing more than VistaSE.
think about it? think 'money', then think 'microsoft'.

advertising my son, advertising to people with small minds is what micro
aim their products at.

also.... did you ask how long eset would support 98, cos i did.
(and if they were enthusiastic about supporting 98 users, then why the
major drama in just finding the damn site etc....? huh?)
