Default System hang when McAfee anti-virus is install

Hi All,
My PC system hang when I install McAfee anti-virus. Error
message:
McAfee VirusScan
"Some components of ActiveShield are either missing or
might not have been installed properly. Please reinstall
ActiveShield.

If you have started your computer in safe mode, please
restart your computer in normal mode to enable McAfee
VirusScan."

1) When I delete McAfee VirusScan using Add/Remove Program
the system works. When I instal back the anti virus it
hangs again with the same error message.

2)Some of the program are not working properly:
a)Ms Words - you can't highlight any sentences or click
the BOLD,ITALIC,UNDERLINE button, etc. When you click, it
dont stay there.

b)Start button - You need to click several times before
it can stay there for you to select the options.

What's happening. Please help.
Thks.

It would seem like you might have a virus running wild on
your system, now some of the new vira, are installing
somthing like a administrative tool as well sins some of
the "Scrip kitties" want to have access to your system and
use it as a platform for hacking the world.

Now you have two options for confirming my theori:

1. Find a freind who has a clean system and then ask him
to create a Antivirus boot disk from McAfee and go home
and scan your system using this disk, now remeber that
before making teh disk to update the virus killer so that
it has all the latest virus definitions with it.

2. try go to a online scanner on the web like house call
or simply by going to www.google.com and search for Online
virus scanner heres one i use often when I think i have
somthing on my Machine i cant kill:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Enjoy
