Default External CD/DVD drive slowing boot

Hi All,

Ever since I installed an external CD/DVD drive, my PC takes an age to boot,
appearing to hang for a couple of minutes before springing into life. If I
disconnect the drive it boots at normal speed again. Is there any way around
this?

Thanks.
