Default External CD/DVD drive slowing boot

Hi All,

Ever since I installed an external CD/DVD drive, my PC takes an age to boot,
appearing to hang for a couple of minutes before springing into life. If I
disconnect the drive it boots at normal speed again. Is there any way around
this?

Thanks.

In addition to what Gary stated, you should also remove CDs and DVDs from a
drive once you are finished using them....

What's the difference between in the CD/DVD hardware on the CD/DVD tray or
elswhere?
If you use the same CD everyday, like a game, isn't there more chance of
damage by removal everyday after use?
