scandisk runs after shutdown
A few months back, suddenly every time I turned on my
computer I would be greeted with the scandisk screen. Apparently, it runs due to an improper shutdown, but when in fact I do shutdown the computer properly. I looked for possible fixes for this on the microsoft site and found a Windows IDE Hard Drive Cache package to download...some file called Ifsmgr.vdx or something similar to that. Downloading this didn't make the scandisk message disappear however. The article further explains that I should tinker with the system registry to make this file download possibly work. Is this the way to correct my problem? I'm frightened by the prospect of having to change the registry, since I am a novice with computers. Any information supplied will be great. Thanks for your help... |
