Default Internet "repair option"

I'm on Windows 98se and lately have been getting a lot of
the messages "Internet Explorer has preformed an illegal
operation". Somewhere at one time I used an internet
repair option--but can't find it anywhere now on my
computer. I've looked in the tools-Internet Options and
can't find it there and also looked in the Control Panel
(Add/Remove programs) and can't find it there.

If anyone knows where I can find it or retrive it if it's
lost--please help.
Thanks dan

Hi,

You can get the IE repair option by using add/remove programs-- remove
Microsoft Internet Explorer; when you do that you will get an option to
repair or revert. Choose repair.

You can also access it by going to StartRun, and type msinfo32 in the
field and click ok. When the dialogue box opens, go to ToolsInternet
Explorer Repair Tool.

You should also scan for adware\spyware as well as viruses.

Enter msconfig in the Start = Run box and look under
Tools.

But I doubt if that will fix the problem. It never has for
me.

I usually use Add/Remove Programs to make Windows revert
to using the version of IE that was installed with it, and
then I reinstall IE - preferably the latest version - IE6
SP1 - from http://support.microsoft.com/.

Then I go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and
install the critical updates for IE.
