Default Win98SE and Publisher 2000 problem

I recently reformatted and reinstalled Win98SE for a friend. He previously
had Microsoft Office 97 installed but had lost the CD a long time ago in a
house move, so he bought MS Office 2000 at a local computer fair and I
installed it after doing the reformat and reinstall of Windows.

Every time he opens Publisher the computer crashes so I asked him for the
exact error message but he hasn't got back to me yet (we live 30 miles apart
so I can't see it for myself until next week).

Thing is, he's not the first person I've heard of with this problem so I was
just wondering if it's a well known problem and anyone could give me any
pointers where to start.

Cheers,

Mogweed.

Start with the exact error message
and in a newsgroup for MS Office or MS Publisher.

This doesn't look like fun, but...

Thanks or Good Luck,
There may be humor in this post, and,
Naturally, you will not sue,
should things get worse after this,

Thanks guys, I'll try to get more info and sort the problem when I see my
