AMD 64 2800 Processor
I have just installed a new M/B and AMD 64 2800 Processor,
my computer/control panel/system shows the chip to be a 2800+ as does dxdiag but the chip appears to be running at 1800 according to Gigabytes Easy-Tune 4 Is this normal? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Robin |

AMD 64 2800 Processor
Yup - that's normal, except that I didn't know that AMD were making 2800
speed AMD64's - are you sure it's not an Athlon XP2800+?? -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2004, Win9x) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.btinternet.com/~winnoel/millsrpch.htm Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's or http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/f.../Mar27pmvp.asp "Robin" wrote in message ... Thanks in advance Robin Your processor is running at 1.8GHz AMD has long practised naming their processors as what they consider to be "the equivalent speed of Intel processors"... which it has never been... though the more accurate assessment would be "our 1.8GHZ processor produces as much heat as an Intel 2.8" g Mind you the AMD 1.8GHz *is* faster than the similar clock-speed Intel offering in many applications. Intel is now doing this too, though what they think they're referring to is beyond me. Rick |
