Default Cannot change desktop settings

I just updated from Win95 to 98. Now when I try to change the desktop
settings on my monitor I receive the message "An error accurred while Windows
was working with the Control Panel file C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DESK.CPL". This
occurs whether I right click Properties on my desktop or I click
Start\Settings\ControlPanel\Display.

Try replacing the file DESK.CPL from your original W98 installation CD using
SFC.

Jeff, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I'm pretty much an amateur at this
level. I am unable to find the DESK.CPL file on my install disk. I can't even
find any files with the extension .CPL. I checked every file in the display
folder but I can't identify it.

Excellent! Jeff and Ron, thanks for the help. I'm back in business and a bit
wiser.
