Display won't change resolution
Hi Greg,
If you are not able to change display resolution. The problem may be with display card or display drivers. Check what resolution you are running and what resolution you are trying to achieve. 1. Let me know what resolution you are running? 2. Also let me know if you have tried reapplying the display drivers? 3. Please provide more information on your display card and what resolution you are running and what resolution you are trying to change? 4. Check if you have any conflicts in device manager. I am happy to help you. Please reply and let me know more details to help you further. Thank you, Harish.G This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. |

Display won't change resolution
Hi Greg,
This usually indicates that there is an incorrect video driver installed. Here's some information on replacing the video driver. Tip: Go to Start - Run and type Msconfig and press enter. On the General Tab click advanced, and make sure "VGA 640x480x16 is NOT checked before continuing. To correct this you will first have to identify the video card installed. That may include checking documentation, contacting the system manufacturer, or opening the box and looking for identifying marks on a video card or video chip on the mother board. Some systems will display the Video Adapter information on the top of the screen when the system first boots up. Some manufacturers displays a logo screen that may cover this information. It may be able to be removed temporarily by pressing the ESC key when the logo first appears. Once the Video card has been identified, go to the manufactures web site, download and install the latest video driver and install it as per there instructions. Or the system may have shipped with a video card driver it can also be used. -- Regards, Bert Kinney [MS-MVP DTS] http://dts-l.org/ How to Configure Outlook Express for Internet News: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=171164 "greg" wrote Seems like I'm not alone with this problem. If you just reinstalled Windows, or you cannot change to 256, 16 bit, or 32
bit color, you probably need to reinstall your video card drivers. To reinstall your video card drivers, you need to know the exact make and model of your video card in order to install the correct/updated drivers. There are several ways to determine what kind of video card you have. 1. Check the manual that came with your PC. 2. You can open your PC tower to look at the video card and note the name and numbers printed on it. 3. You can download and run this program from MajorGeeks.com. It might be able to determine what kind of video card you have: AIDA32 - Enterprise System Information 3.93 http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=183 To find the Aida32 info you need to post, run the Aida32 program, and click the + sign next to Computer on the left side of your screen then click Summary. Then Right click the information on the *right* side of your screen and select Copy. You can then paste the information in Notepad or paste it directly to this newsgroup. Aida32 will tell you a lot about what's inside your PC. In addition to telling us the *Brand and Model Number* of your computer, please post back the information Aida32 reports for your: Motherboard CPU Chipset Display PCI/AGP Video Display GPU This information will assist us in finding the correct video drivers, and directing you to the video card manufacturer's website so you can download and install them. *** IMPORTANT *** Remember to tell us the *Brand and Model Number* of your computer which is printed on your PC case or is listed in the manual that came with your computer.
