Default Catch-22 when installing Logisys LGX750 monitor

Hello,

I've used a lot of monitors, and they've never needed anything special,
until now.

Recently I got a used Logisys LGX750.

The problem is: when Windows 98SE boots up, it tries to install the
monitor as new hardware. But it can't find the driver. SO I tell
windows to ignore it, and everything is fine until I boot up next time.

I found and downloaded the driver. The download is in *.exe format,
meaning that this file will self-extract the driver. When I try to run
it, it stops and says that the monitor isn't installed! I have to
install the monitor before I can extract the driver!

(But I thought installing a device *included* getting the driver.)

Meanwhile, the monitor works well enough. How can I "install" this thing?

Thanks for all help,

Ted Shoemaker

I would suspect that the message from the installation EXE file is referring
to the physical connection of the monitor to the system, not the existence
of a Windows device. However, that doesn't explain why the extract function
doesn't see the monitor as connected.
