Default HELP : VERY URGENT ! - 2 Folders lost !

Hi there,

Can someone PLEASE help me ?

After an improper shutdown and the "normal" reboot and ScanDisk I know
find that two VERY important folders on my C: drive are missing !!!

Everything else seems to be OK and there are no ScanDisk "Recovery
Files" (corrupted fiels/folders that get renamed to something like
DSC0001 etc) in C: (root)

These contain YEARS and YEARS of Palm programs and Psion programs that
I have purchased alomg with sales receipts etc !!!
They have cost somewhere in the region of £800-£900 and now are
totally lost !

I have now shut the computer down and am doing this on my other
computer - is thee ANY way I can recover these 2 folders ? either in
Windows (What program do i use/need ?) or by a DOS command line ?

I hope someone doesn't suggest "Restore" I have had problems in the
past and this approach has NEVER worked for me, I really need a better
solution than that !

Please, please help me !

Many Thanks,

Steve

Restore from your backup. You did make backups of your platform -- right ?

I wish I had backups .. otherwise I would not have asked the question
:-(

I do have a backup but it is VERY old and probably only contains a
tenth of the programs I have bought !

You can always go with the data recovery services. Chances are the data itself
is (mostly) still there, so someone with the right tools (a disk sector editor)
and talent can probably get (most of) it back. Try "data recovery services" in
Yahoo or Google. I've had some success in this too, but I'm not cheap either,
and it's not my primary line of work anyway. I've done enough of it to respect
people who do it for a living. You might be able to find a local computer whiz
who can do it, but I'd be careful about that. If they're not that good you
could just as easily loose everything as get it back.
