I would be grateful for any advise. The microsoft.public.infopath newsgroup is for Microsoft InfoPath. Windows 98 questsions should be asked in one of the microsoft.public.win98 groups. Follow-up set to microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion and microsoft.public.win98.setup. Regards, Steve -- Please post questions to the newsgroup; everyone benefits. Download CMOSPwd:
http://www.cgsecurity.org/cmospwd.html Direct link to the zip file: http://www.cgsecurity.org/cmospwd-4.3.zip I haven't had luck decrypting passwords with it, but you can use it to wipe the CMOS settings, without opening the computer case. Unzip it, and read the readme file before using it. Copy the unzipped executable file to a boot floppy disk (startup diskette), and boot the problem computer with the disk. At the A:\ prompt, type: CMOSPWD /K and press Enter. From the Readme file (http://www.cgsecurity.org/cmospwd.txt): " If the standard method does not work, then try to kill the CMOS password with CMOSPWD /K (and press Enter), and then see if you can get into the CMOS without a password. If you can, you successfully "killed" the old CMOS password. DO NOT KILL THE CMOS on IBM ThinkPad 765 laptops." Then enter the BIOS setup, and choose the option to reset "Setup Defaults" (not BIOS defaults), and set the date and time. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Steve van Dongen [MSFT]" wrote in message ... Try j262 first. j262 AMI_SW (case sensitive) AMI!SW/ AMI?SW/ AWARD_SW (case sensitive) I guess there is no real harm in posting these as there are utilities that will do the same thing. I have one. Plus removing the battery overnight will clear the CMOS. Let us know the results. Regards, Bill Watt Computer Help and Information http://home.epix.net/~bwatt/ |
