Default unInstall Shield

I am trying to install a program on my PC from my original setup cd and the
error I am getting says that " Setup has detected that uninstall shield is in
use. Please cloce uninstall shield." How do I close this. I am using windows

What program are you attempting to install? Had it ever been installed on
the machine?

I did uninstall it recently because it was not working properly ever since my
hard drive was replaced.

Have a look here, Craig:
Error 432:
http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q110613

You might also try installing from Safe Mode.

Glen I was wondering for the user if it is wise to always unistall and
install via safe mode or is it preferable to do it in normal mode. Also, in
your opinion, how can you make sure the program is completely gone without
any traces. I asked Gary Terhune this second question as well but I would
also appreciate your response. TIA

No reason to do either in Safe Mode unless there is a recurrent problem occurring in
normal mode attempts, such as the poster in this thread related.

Ensuring that all traces of a program are gone with its uninstall can be difficult
unless you have monitored the changes made by the installation. It is a good
practice to monitor your installations with something like the freeware Total
Uninstall:
http://www.geocities.com/ggmartau/tu.html

"Total Uninstall can help you to monitor any changes that were made to your system
during installation of a new software product. It allows you to perform a complete
uninstall without having to rely on the supplied uninstall program which may leave
files or changes behind."
