Default display adapter

After turing on the computer a message reads: If you can
read thes message, Windows has successfully intialized
this display adapter...it goes on to explain how to
change the setting. Problem - it just hangs there you
ca't escape the curosr blinks but nothing happens..I
can't even get to safe mode. Any ideas...it is my son's
computer it is driving us all crazy.

This message is often received when installing a second graphic card for two
displays, or when the video is connected to the second ouput on a multi head
video card, examine the back of the pc and see if there is another connector
exactly the same as the one to which the monitor is connected, if there is try
that instead
