local images don't load in IE6 on W98 - remote images fine
If I open an html file off my hard disk into IE6, none of
the images work - they all turn up as red X's. Images loaded from http: work perfectly. They worked fine in IE5.5, it was only when I upgraded to IE6 that the stopped working. This on both my computer and the computer of a friend of mine, both running Windows 98 (not SE, if it matters). Not only to images in IE not work, but anything that uses IE for its display, eg if I turn Active Desktop on the background becomes a red X, and the emoticons in Yahoo Messenger are red X's also. I have tried everything I can think of (clearing cache, checking and rechecking security settings, spybotsd and adaware, etc) but to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks in advance ===== Phlip (This post was crossposted on microsoft.public.inetexplorer.ie6.browser and microsoft.public.win98.internet.browser - with no help from either) |
