Default Cannont uninstall nor reinstall WSB11: Linksys says it is problem with W98...

I am trying to install a Wireless-B USB adapter (Linksys WSB11).

It did not work so linksys told me to uninstall and install the latest
software from their site. I downloaded the latest stuff (mine was out
of date) but I had problems removing the program using the "add remove
programs" ....

Now when I try to reload, it comes up with an error message "The WLAN
monitor utility and drivers for the WUSB11 have already been
installed".

I cannot find the drivers anywhere and it won't let me
load up the disk without these drivers removed.

Please note I have tried everything that was mentioned the last time
this came up:
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=e...e04560a&rnum=1

I have tried running the uninstall from the Start/Programs/whatever
and also from the control panel. I have manually removed ALL linksys
registry entries. I have manually removed the drivers I know are
linsys (LSPMUSB.*). I also removed the installed directory/files
(Program Files/Linksys/WUSB11-or-something). It still insists there
are portions still installed and refuses to install over them. When I
run the uninstall from the Control Panel, it appears to run but
windows flash to quickly to really be running (I assume it is trying
to run an executable that no longer exists; perhaps one in the
directory I removed). Although it claims to have succesfully
uninstalled, the item remains in the Control Panel list and the
installer will not run.

HELP!

That's what they are saying about you! FWIW, I agree with you. In
any case, can you help?

I doubt that they know me in that I am a computer user just like you--I do
newsgroup support as a hobby. Linksys software makes registry entries when
it is installed and one of those entries appears to be the culprit--that
error message isn't produced by Windows. I don't use their product so I
have no idea what entry it might be. It would seem like Linksys ought to
know as it's their software. Have you run regedit.exe and done searches of
the registry on:

linksys, WSB11 and WLAN
