Default explorer invalid page fault module kernel32.dll

When I launch Internet Explorer, the following error
appears:

Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module
Kernel32.dll at 0167:bff87ede

Then, IE shuts down and I have no Internet access.

I ran Internet Explorer Repair, and I now receive this
error after launching IE:

IExplore caused an invalid page fault in module unknown
at 0000:2e777777

Again, IE shuts down and I have no Internet access.

I've been trying to fix this for weeks, nothing has
worked. I really hope someone out there can help.

Well, if there was nothing for you in my previous post, & no one else
came by with a sensible suggestion, then, well, this should be at least
harmless...

Over-install IE. Try first without, but I believe it will request an
internet connection. Perhaps it is best to let it connect, actually. If
you don't care to get this fancy, just skip to step (c).

(a) Turn off interfering programs. Use http://www.pcmag.com/ 's
"StartupCop" or "EndItAll2". Or "START, Run, MSConfig, Startup tab".
Note what is unchecked, if anything. Then, go to the General tab &
disable the entire Startup Group, by clicking "Selective.." & unchecking
"Load Startup...". Reboot.

(b) Perhaps, if you haven't got EndItAll2, then "Ctrl-Alt-Del" & end
task all but Explorer & Systray. If this goes badly, start again from
top, & skip it next time.

(c) "START, Find, F/F, IE6Setup.exe". Click it in the Find window.
NOTE: If you are IE5, then it's "IE5Setup.exe". If there are more
than one (I have two each), click the one in "C:\WINDOWS\Windows
Update Setup Files" or "C:\Windows Update Setup Files", as applicable.

(d) Re-enable the Startup Group. That will automatically check all
items. Go to the Startup tab & uncheck any noted in step (a). Reboot.

(e) Perhaps go to Windows Update, to see whether it now offers
criticals.

I have a similar problem with a pc iam looking at but the
fault module is (~with about 8 numbers and a .TMP
extension). this error pops up automatically after you
boot up and let the desktop sit for about two minutes and
then the desktop goes blank leaving me with only a program
i may have opened in that two minutes. the powersupply
went while my friend was on the internet and he replaced
it, increasing the wattage of the new one by 100 watts.
can't get it to stop with the error. got any suggestions
Have you gotten any feedback on your problem?
i have tried reinstalling internet explorer and found it
had no effect.

"~with about 8 numbers and a .TMP extension" sounds suspicious to pop up =
out of the blue. Looks like something may be installing itself. But it =
could be something legitimate you have doing it, I guess.

I doubt it is the power supply at fault, because this .TMP file is =
involved. I can't think what might be creating it power supply related, =
unless you have a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) taking action.

I think it best to begin with a clean up of your Startup Group...

First pick one of these to identify what loads at boot. Next, see
whether there is an option in it's menus to disable it from starting up.
If you really want to rid yourself of it on a more permanent basis, then
look for it in "Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs". However, it isn't
often easy to know what is what in there. One of these URL's may say.
Only last, go to StartUpCop.

http://www.3feetunder.com/krick/startup/list.html

http://www.pcmag.com/ 's StartUpCop has "undo", and it is more than a
combination of "START, Run, MSInfo32, Software Environment, Startup
Programs" and "START, Run, MSConfig, Startup tab". It can even do a
permanent delete. Of course, first see whether the app has an option in
it's own menus to remove itself from the Startup Group. This is
configurable, and one may maintain multiple configurations.
