CAB files missing
As a stopgap we are setting up a Win98 machine, which
has been upgraded to SE from the MS website. Therefore I only have access to a MS win98 basic disc. Now we need to install broadband from BT (British Telecom) The BT installation disk has already announced that two files could not be found. I found them on the Internet with another machine already connected. They were choosusr.dll and secur32.dll. The location of the two machines makes it a pain to do one by one. Therefore, what other files might a broadband installer disc look for which are not on my machine? Is there somewhere where all these files can be loaded together? Miles |

Miles First off, there is no MS online upgrade to win98se. However...most any OS can access a broadband account as long as you have a working net card. The main problem is that you must use the supplied software to initially activate your account... and that is why BT seemingly requires at least win98se. If you activate your account from another machine,,,your win98 system should be good to go, |

If you activate your account from another machine,,,your win98 system should be good to go, Well obviously I wouldn't be asking for the files if it were. However, MS provided a huge upgrade and reports itself as Windows 98 SE. The owner of the machine now has decided on another route, although it might only take the installation of just one more file. Thanks for your input. |
