Default File extentions safe to delete?

Besides .tmp, which other file extensions are safe to delete? TIA.

Dare I say it but those of files you don't want.

Unless you know what you are deleting it is best not to randomly delete
files based on criteria such as their extension however I would recommend
that you regularly clear out your Windows\Temp folder and Temporary
Internet Files folders regardless of the extension of any files they
contain. Don't however delete files from the Windows\Temp folder without
first rebooting in case you have an incomplete installation which needs
the reboot to complete.

Thanks Mike!

BTW, what about the the entries in registry left over by the uninstalled
softwares? It is said that installing and uninstalling softwares leaves
traces in the registry. If the registry cleaner indicates such entries
pertaining to the name of uninstalled software, will it be safe to delete
them? If not, what precautions one need to take? TIA.

What uninstalled software? What registry cleaner? If you are going to
play with registry cleaners, and personally I don't advise that unless
you've got a good idea as to what you're doing (I don't user them), the
essential thing to remember is to back up the registry first and also to
retain the deleted registry entries so that they can be easily restored if
problems result. Most registry cleaners create backups automatically so
use them and don't discard the files as unwanted.
