Default setupapi Driver support in W98 for W2000+ printers

I wish to use an HP P1005 laser printer with a W98 computer which says it
requires W2000 or later computer - but without parting with W98. You know
why!
When trying to install the printer's driver, l get the error message:
The SETUP.EXE file is linked to missing export
SETUPAPI.DLL:CM_Locate_DevNodeW. . followed by:
A device attached to the system is missing.
I have copied SETUPAPI.DLL from an XP equipped computer into Windows,
Windows System and Windows System 32 on my W98 computer but this hasn't cured
the problem.
Any useful ideas or fixes would be most welcome.
Thanks in advance for any replies.
