Just a heads up on this program. I used it for a bit but got thoroughly
ticked off when it identified my ISP (Sympatico) as a trojan and even
gave it a name that Google never heard of.

I wrote their tech support and sent them the 4 suspect files which had
been totally cleared by Virus Total, btw......and all they did was ask
me for one of them again.

Next update, it went back to October 2005 (I see on the Forum that this
happened to a lot of people)....then it started calling Limewire some
sort of *suspicious file*. That is when I decided to chuck it and when
you uninstall it, you are taken to a website asking why you are doing
so.

I told them once again and that was that!! Seems the author (Andreas)
doesn't care that this program false alarms.....particularly on my
internet connection (VBG). Never heard one word from them.

I must jump on your wagon, Heather.
There are too many things being extracted for deletion, which seem too
important to me to remove, even though one can save them for the registry as
backup.
Maybe it would be best to get rid of the program as you did.
But then there are some people here, who like it, right?

Harry.

I've been using it for some time now, no probs. Thanks for the 'heads up',
Alias.
I find it odd, Harry, that you are getting so many items "extracted for
deletion." It is only on rare occasion that I have any issues found.

OOPS!! I named the wrong program....dammit!! It was a-Squared that did
all the things I said.

As for CCleaner, I didn't like that one even more.....and I got rid of
it after a few tries....I never deleted anything it said to delete
because you have no choice in the matter. I will stick with the old
tried and true programs, thanks.

And I think I will go get checked for Old-Timers Disease. LOL!!

So transpose my negative remarks to a-Squared....and it's author who
won't listen to anyone.

Harry,

IMO the only "not to be trusted" utility in CCleaner is the "Issues"
section, a registry cleaner that is as dangerous as any other registry
cleaner available.

As a Crap Cleaner, I have no doubts it is one of the best.

Zee

I was wondering because CCleaner doesn't do trojans. I've been using
CCleaner on three machines and have had nothing but positive results.

I may have to take back all the good things I said about CC. It seems the
new version comes with the Yahoo! toolbar integrated into the install. Can
anyone confirm an 'option' NOT to install this invasion??? I am amazed
that a Crap Cleaner comes with crap.....shame on them.
