Default Will System Updates Remain Available When Support Ends?

I understand the support for 95, 98, and ME will officially end on July 11th.
Will updates remain available on the web for WIndows Update?

Paul,

Updates for Win 95 are no longer available.
I've asked MS if updates for Win ME will still be available after 7/11
and if further updates will be issued for newly discovered
vulnerabilities after that date.
Reading the Support Lifecycle page gave me a headache.
Stay tuned ...

Mow,

Whilst I believe updates will continue to be available from the Windows
Update site for some time yet I don't expect that Win Me or Win 98SE users
should expect further security updates to be built for any new
vulnerabilities. IE6 SP1 will also be soon out of support and IS 6 SP2
has never been made available for Win9x systems.

And, I was wrong/right about updates for Win 95. They're still available
via the MS Download Center, but not on the Windows Update Catalog site.
Still waiting for the "official" word from MS ... but I think you are
spot on, Mike.

I suspect it all depends on how long MS are prepared to continue running
the v4 Windows Update site. I can't remember but don't think that Win95
was supported beyond the v2 site. Since XP is now using the v6 site the
life of the v4 site could well be just a few months after which the
Download Centre would have to be the source of any required hotfixes.

The official word is no new security updates will be forthcoming after
the extended support phase has ended.
Time for those to move on up to _______ ( Users' choice ) from Win9x is
fast approaching.

Mow,

That isn't exactly new news as this was announced some years ago. See
"Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows Millennium Support
Extended"
(http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;LifeAn1) which
states:
"Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows Me downloads for
existing security issues will continue to be available through regular
assisted-support channels at no charge until June 30, 2006." [Last Review:
January 14, 2005].

Joan,

I've also seen 11 July mentioned but since it is just an additional 11
days didn't think to mention it. Thanks though for the reminder.
