Is there an easy, good way to convert a .jpg image to a .bmp format? I want
to put a digital camera jpg image as wallpaper and I am told that I must Active Desktop | Show Web Content, something I prefer not doing. TIA Ken Bland -- A polar bear is a rectangular bear after a coordinate transform. |

Ken,
Download the free Irfanview program - it does many things and everyone should have it. Just load your picture, then re-size it as desired, then use "save as" and choose "BMP" - be sure to save it in the Windows folder and it will appear when you change the settings option on your desktop. You can also directly save as "wallpaper." Irfanview is free and available at all of the regular download sites - or just use Google to find it. If you don't have a graphics program installed and don't have MS Office
installed (if you do you can use MSPaint), I would suggest you use IrfanView which can be downloaded free from www.irfanview.com. -- Mike Maltby Justin Thyme wrote: Is there an easy, good way to convert a .jpg image to a .bmp format? Open the jpg file and select File - Save as - and select bmp from the Save as
type list. Then save to where ever. Can this be done with ME? Craig. "Justin Thyme" wrote: Is there an easy, good way to convert a .jpg image to a .bmp format? Hi Mike,
I'm using Internet Explorer Ver: 6.0.2800.1106. But I am at work using Win 2000 pro and that's why I asked the question "Can this be done with ME?". Craig. And which image program are you suggesting the poster use to open the jpg? -- Mike Maltby |

Craig,
Thanks for explaining what you were doing and answer is yes, IE can be used to convert a jpg to a bmp file in Win Me just as it can in W2K and XP. To be honest since I never use IE to view a stand alone image but only ones that forms part of a web page I hadn't even thought of this approach to the problem especially given that Win Me like most OSs uses a default image viewer that has no ability to save and also because I invariably have one or more graphics apps installed on my systems. -- Mike Maltby canna wrote: Hi Mike, I'm using Internet Explorer Ver: 6.0.2800.1106. Thanks Mike,
I just got home and tried it on my machine running ME. There you go Justin a very easy way to convert a jpg to bmp. It's nice to think that I have helped someone with a problem because it's usually other people helping me. Craig. (We've had company visiting and just put them on an airplane for their home. I only just now turned the computer on and will check your suggestions carefully. I've heard of Irfanview many times before but thought I had no need for it until now.) Thanks again. Ken Bland |
