You could make a directory on a formatted hard drive (C: drive) to hold the
installation files. Let's say for example you want to call the directory (or folder) "W98install". After you create the folder, you would copy the entire contents of the WIN98 folder on the CD to the folder you created on the C: drive. Make sure your HD has been FDISK'ed and formatted, and boot the computer with a boot floppy, go to a C:\ prompt. To create a directory and copy the installation files, it would look something like this: (where MD stands for the DOS command to make a directory) C:\md W98install (or call this anything you like) cd\W98install (this changes you to the directory you just created) copy E:\WIN98\*.* (where "E" is the drive letter of your CD-ROM) This will copy all of the installation files from the CD to your HD. After the copy is complete, make sure you are in the "W98install" directory, and at the prompt type "setup" (without the quotes) and hit Enter. Setup should begin. Hope this doesn't sound too convoluted. I'm sure there are others who can explain this better than I. -- HTH, Curt W98 Support & Discussion: http://dundats.proboards27.com/index.cgi Windows How-tos and and Freewa http://mvps.org/PracticallyNerded/ Windows Help & Discussion: http://forum.aumha.org/ "shweezle" wrote in message ... If the hard disk is blank then the first command will fail.
