Default How do I run the Windows ME bootdisk?

I made the bootdisk from bootdisk.com, but now that it's in the laptop, I am
not sure what commands to type?

Thanks for taking the time.

Exactly what are you trying to do with your Startup disk?

At the A:\ prompt, you will need to type a DOS command.

For a full description of all the commands, take a look at your MS (Retail)
version of the WinMe CD under the tools\oldmsdos folder.

Double-click on the help.com file which will open to give a full list of DOS
commands with examples of their use and correct syntax.

N.B - This is the list of DOS 6.22 commands and some have been removed or
modified in version 7 (as supplied with WinMe). You should get an idea of
(most) of the DOS 7 commands by inspecting the Command\EBD folder.

There are a number of ways of printing the DOS 6.22 list of commands but
probably the easiest is to PrtSc (Print Screen key) and paste the 'picture'
into Paint and then print it.

BTW - You CANNOT boot into WinMe, using the Startup disk.

I am trying to get past the same error message that is saying there is not
enough memory to run windows. The computer won't boot up, so some people
directed me to make a boot disk. When I insert the disk, I usually get to a
place that has 4 options. 1. Normal startup 2. Start up with help of cd rom.
3. Start up without cd rom. 4 Minimal boot. Not sure what to do.

OK Larry, I've tried to follow your previous thread and FWIW, it's not the
direction in which I can help you as I'm not familiar with Compaq machines -
although 'standard troubleshooting techniques' *may* work.

However, elsewhere, "w-tom" advises that there is a specific routine to
follow for faulting Compaq machines and I would suggest that you go back and
follow his directions. - Maybe he will jump-in here and continue.

But, FWIW, as far as I can tell, you *may* have an issue with your RAM or
you *may* even have an issue with your HDD . However, that you are able to
boot into Real Mode DOS using your new Floppy AND see the four menu options
gives cause for some optimism.

But re-visit "w-tom's" advice.
